"I am a fan of Seneca's ...

So the coach is back in the fold early, seemed to be in good spirits, and said a couple of funny things as reported by everyone.

I am not saying that he is over "failing" with Koren, but I think he will have a re-dedication to his other project, young Mr. Wallace. And that is a great thing. He is widely respected as a teacher of quarterbacks, and with the turmoil of last season, the FO, and Koren, I don't see how he was able to spend enough quality time with Seneca. Or Matt for that matter. You could tell that Matt was pushing to pick up slack, and I feel some of the slack was the coaches, he just couldn't finish last year.

They continue talking about bringing in a veteran to back up Matt, but as stated in this linked article, "just to bring in a guy who has some experience that I don't think will perform as well as Seneca, that doesn't any sense to me either."

I really think that Seneca is going to be the backup. And with his reported work ethic, obvious athletic skills, and the coaches attention, I think we'll be in great shape if Matt cannot play. And that has to be good for coaches heart.

Heres hoping that Seneca gets to ice about 20 games this year!

  1. There really aren't too many people out there who back Seneca more than me. But one thing does make me nervous about having him as a backup. Watching him play in preseason games, and comparing his style to Matt's, he is entirely a different player. That can be good, but if Matt goes down, that means the entire offense has to switch to his style of play, and that can lead to mental errors.

  2. But on the other hand, the defense has to adjust, too. If Seneca comes in relief, the defense has to almost scrap their game plan.

I would expect a letdown on the defense in such a case.

Couldn't have said it better myself, and in my opinion, there is no one available with even half the talent of Seneca.

  4. One good thing about it is that the Hawks have depth at the WR position, so you could bring in other wide outs that have played with Seneca, and the defense would have to adjust to them too. Heck, other than the line, you could almost run a second offense in there with Urban, Viscious, and Morris. Almost like Hockey.

(What is this "hockey" you speak of?)

  5. well from the different papers...they are all saying that Seneca has improved and has stood out...

there are no veterans better then Seneca right now, IMO...he knows the offense better then any of them...and probably plays better at this point

not worth it...experience or not...how is he supposed to get experience if they dont let him play?

they will saying this every year until the first 2 strings get injured and he comes in at 45 years old...

LOL, no kidding. ADP, are you tall enough to be a QB? Move to Indy and try out for Peytons backups backup, fat $ and you'll never have to play. Then we can say the same about you!

"Wallace has learned to adapt in large part to they system, and while he is a threat to scramble, he doesn't look to, and has worked to develop as a pocket passer"

Exactly, and with more attention from the coach, the system factor will only increase. The gain in surprise and athleticism (giraffe on ice ring a bell?) is enough for me, I am ready for Wallace as our #2.

  8. ha yeah...im 6'0...but conditioning on my height (yes, its possible...remember, im very young)...but i would never backup Peyton Manning...the way i plan it...WHEN i make it somewhere...it will be where i wanna play, not where the money is...so Indy is out, especially with General Shovel Face at the helm

luckily for me, im a cornerback, and can play WR...but will NEVER play QB (i either have good strength and no accuracy, or great accuracy and no strength...its quite sad)

  9. "Ice about 20 games this year."

What exactly are you saying you hope he gets a chance to play in 20 games?

God I hope not! He's improving yes, but ready to win 20 games? No way.

We'd better hope Matt starts and finishes every game we play.

Seneca's no Matt Hasselbeck by any stretch of teh imagination.

  10. Vin, by ice, I meant the second string comes in late because the first string put the game away in the first quarter...
