Broken Bannister

Seahawks special teams ace Alex Bannister broke his collarbone at practice Wednesday.
The team expects him to be ready for week one, but that is far from certain. The former Pro Bowler suffered the same injury last season.

More details to come: courtesy of both Rotoworld and confirmed by Mike Sando...he is out until September

  1. Kind of makes the griping that a lot of people are doing on the other boards, about how the Seahawks keep signing these perennial backups that are good Special Teams players, seem more foolish.

  2. That always bugged me. Special teams is a MAJOR part of a football team. How many games are won by a field goal? Field position lends directly to field goals. Losing Bannister again would definitely hurt.

  3. Agreed. We lost at least 3 games due to poor special teams play last season, and it seemed that every kickoff the opponents were starting on the 35 or better!

  4. looks like my hot streak of agreeing with Paulie continues...

I think special teams is extremely underrated...

we DESPERATELY need someone to step up on KRs...I think we ae getting set on special teams 'defense' so to speak (when WE kick or punt)...heres hoping Desmond Howard comes out of retirement!

  5. Great minds and all of that! I'm often worried about Josh Brown's kickoff skill as well. When was the last time we had a kick downed in the endzone?

  6. most football coaches will admit that the game is three parts not two. Everyone thinks about the game in terms of offense and defense but most coaches will say that the game is actually three equal parts, offense defense and special teams equally important.
