Poll: Should We Cover the Sonics?

Yeah, I'm all geeked out about the Sonics. Let me know what you think here.

12 Seahawks Street Poll
Should 12 Seahawks Street cover the Sonics during the playoffs?
YES!
Sure, but keep it to one thread per day.
No, this is a Seahawks blog. We can get Sonics info elsewhere.

  1. I also am all geeked out about the Sonics, but I am also geeked out about the M's too, so I think to avoid too much Sonics stuff here but to also give props to a Seattle team in the playoffs, limit it to one small post a day. We need to bear in mind also, that not all Seahawks fans are from Seattle and not all are Sonics or M's fans as well. I am even though I originate from Fargo but I am the exception not the rule.

  2. With all due respect, Blue, look at the name and logo in the masthead of this site, and you'll find your answer.

Being from Albany, NY, I could give a rats ass about the Ms and the Sonics, even though a couple of guys from the Albany CBA team played on the Sonics a bunch of years ago. (Vince Askew, Mario Ellie, Coach Karl all were Albany Patroons)

It's really easy to create new blogs like we're doing for our AAS pages, so just create 12 Sonics Street and invite us all to contribute there.

I can see by the early voting that I'm in the minority, but I really think we need to keep this site dedicated to the Seahawks.

  3. Maybe in keeping with our "existing" brand, create a new "Super Blog" called 12 Seattle Street and branch off to 12 Seahawks Street, 12 Sonics Street and 12 Mariners Street?

That way the locals can go to 12 Seattle Street and have a one-stop shop to their three municipal teams, and those of us who only care about ONE of those teams, can go right to the appropriate page.

There are a bunch of Ms and Sonic fans who could care less about the Seahawks I'm sure.

I know the 12 is in reference to the retired 12th man jersey (at least I think it is!) so it doen't really mean the same thing with the Ms or Sonics, but it's part of our brand.

Maybe we can make it 12 Sonics Court and 12 Mariners Alley to keep with our roadmap theme.

This way too Monkey can contribute to all three sites and adopt have of the Ms and Sonic rosters too!

  4. After having read alba's comment, I am reminded that what he said is very true, it's too late to change my vote in the poll but Bluefoot, you can count one less for yes and one more for no. I have once again flip flopped after more consideration - yeknom, aka waffle aka monkey

  5. Yeknom - with all this flip-flopping, you're sounding more like a true Northeast Liberal every day!!!

(I'm still wearing my Kerry/Edwards button and my Bill Clinton thong!)

  6. Damn! Don't tempt me alba, you know I would! I would immediately adopt both Sexson and Beltre and Fortson and Ray Allen and...

Actually, I would have no problem with that type of expansion and had given serious thought to creating two more blogs like this one to do just that. Not enough time however, so I hadn't done so. However, a 12 M's park or alley or whatever and a 12 sonics court do indeed sound like cool ideas. I know enough about, and follow closely enough, the other two sports that I could hold my own on topics regarding them.
Also, we might be able to get Munchausen to do the M's one. I know he already has his own site with Paulie P, but hey, you never know! Their attendence isn't what ours is, maybe with the 12 tie in they would go for it. Someone should investigate this possibility. Talk to munch maybe. Heck, we could corner the market on all things 12 sports, that would really put us on the map. Then again, maybe spread us too thin? Interesting to think about though huh?

  7. You know, while I was typing the words DAMN don't tempt me alba, I was referring to the idea of adopting Sonics and Mariners, NOT the fact that you still wear a Clinton thong! YOu know that right? RIGHT??? LOL!!

  8. This is EXACTLY why I asked. Thanks for the input, guys!

BTW: Alba brings up an interesting point: If anyone wanted to start a sister blog on the M's or Sonics, Look me up. I don't have time to admin on another blog, but an affiliation/partnership could bring benefits to both parties. If someone wanted to grow one and be the site, I'd be happy to be part of the network and help a little with some of the nuts and bolts.

  9. Tempting Bluefoot, very tempting! Trouble is, I spend too much time on the computer here as it is. I'll think about it for a while, I may just take you up on that.

  10. I have to admit, I am a Seahawks DIE HARD, a Sonics BANDWAGONER, and an M's novice. I didn't pick up baseball until about '98. They are my favorite teams in their respective sports, but my knowledge is a bit thin. Love to help, though.

Just like the PI blogs helped me become a better and more knowledgable fan, I'm sure the affiliates would do the same.

Then I'll have to quit my job and get a divorce!

  11. Keep in mind, we can slowly do this over the next year. Personally, I think it's been a good thing that we started this blog in the off-season. It might me the same with the Sonics and M's.

  12. I don't have a problem covering other local teams if the are close to or in the playoffs, but it shouldn't take over the site.

  13. monkey, I don't have time to keep up with what you guys are doing, much less do a whole other site with Munch! (although it would be fun)

I voted No, as strongly as I could. I am actually a fan of the team in monkey's neck of the woods (Go Wolves!) and would rather not spend my Hawks time reading about the sonics. That being said, I do like the idea of a 12 Seattle Circle, to unite all the Seattle teams. I know if I loved the Seattle teams (I'm also a Cubs fan, I know, I know...) I would spend a ton of time there.

By the By, I love the new pic monkey, outstanding!

  14. hey Paulie...fitting it was the Sonics that ended the TWolves' playoff run...(sorry I had to throw that in there...the TWolves got a little annoying this season for me)

anyways...im not going to vote, as my option is not on there...I would love to have a full circle of the Seattle teams...the downside is, im heavily into all 3 (Mariners will ALWAYS be my favorite sports team, as MLB is my favorite sports)...so it might a little much...

but on the flipside it will draw new visitors, that might grow an interest in one of the others...and I definitely would be spending time on all 3...so it would fit me perfectly...I can live through the million threads a day to read about the 3 teams

but the question remains...what about the Storm? noone cares about the WNBA...but they won our first championship snce 1979, AND if any of you had the privaledge to watch them play in the playoffs (I did, because i wanted the city to win something)...you would notice that they looked like an NBA TEAM...they are talented man...Jackson=Dirk...Bird=Nash

then again they arent big enough to warrant a section, or a split witht he Sonics...

    just think though...

the Sonics will have a Seahawkish offseason, and the Mariners are full of stories...now would be a good time
