A-ba-de, A-ba-de, That's All Folks!

Could this be the end of the "M & M" duo on Monday Night Football? God, I hope so!

The NFL just announced that starting with the 2006 season, Monday Night Football is moving to ESPN, and NBC is picking up the Sunday night telecasts.

Michaels is okay but Madden is a one trick pony whose schtick has run it's course while he was still with CBS.

I've always like the ESPN duo of Theisman and Patrick much better. Not sure why they added Paul McGuire to the booth a bunch of years ago, but I can take him or leave him.

Who do you think will get the nod for MNF after this season? Michaels & Madden? Theisman, Patrick & McGuire? Some combination of both teams? Someone completely new?

As New Yorker, I'm happy to hear that they're moving up the start time for MNF, albeit only 20 minutes, but it should help East Coast productivity at work on Tuesdays during the season!

I guess it's okay whatever they do, as long as they don't bring back Dennis Miller!!!

  1. I heard "A Madden Minute" today on espn and it was so bloody stupid that I thought that it was Frank Calliendo that guy who does those awesome parodies of Madden instead of Madden himself. Then I realized, "monkey, he has always sounded this stupid", and I figured out it really was him.
At least Madden isn't the intelligent one of the group anymore like it was when his former partner Summerall(sp?) had gotten too old and had rinsed his brain out with too many suds. That was awful. I used to laguh as Summerall got al the information wrong and Madden had to try to correct him, it was a riot, because most of the time Madden knew that something Past had just said wasn't quite right, but Madden was too stupid to know for certain what.
Any show, where Madden is the bright one, is a downright frighteningly stupid show.

  2. That should read Madden knew that something Pat had just said wasn't quite right. When I type slowly I'm OK, but whenever I try to type quickly, forget it, it's mistake after mistake.

  3. Whenever I'm watching sports with my BF and I say something rediculously obvious, but in a way that attempts to sound smart, like, "The Seahawks really need to score on this drive because the team with the highest score wins," he always nails me with,

    "What are you, Madden?"

    That should tell you something.

  4. I just read an article on the NY Post about it which indicated that ESPN had said that they would keep their trio of Theisman, Patrick and McGuire if they got the MNF gig. Now that they DO have it, it'll be interesting to see what shakes out over the next year.

The Post said Madden would most likely land with NBC, or at CBS doing games with Phil Simms and Jim Nantz. That would be bad cuz I don't think Madden would add anything to that team.

Blue - who or what is a BF?

  5. I just realized that BF could have a horrible second meaning, which I won't go into!

    BF=Best Friend

  6. "BF = Best Friend"

PHEW!!! I didn't think you were a chick, nor did I think you played for the other team!

(Not that there's anything wrong with it!!!)

Actually, there's a subscriber on the Seahawks Yahoo Group whose handle is "FaggyLiberal", and he really knows his stuff!

  7. I agree with SHO, Theisman sucks. If he is on MNF, I hope they play tape of LT breaking his leg every week, that should clam him up. He is at the very least as dumb as Madden, but Madden is likeable, like Slingblade... aightden. McGuire is also a dope, so I usually turn the sound way down for SNF.

But I hope they don't bring Madden in for MNF, just can't take the "Mike Vick is the most exciting player on the planet, Brett Favre is the best and most beautiful man ever" crap for six games this season. Yuck. Do love the T-Day thing with that disgusting Tur-duck-in with 10 legs, its like a nasty KFC experiment gone bad.

  9. Madden has to stay. As much as fans like us find his comments trite and pointless, he is the best in the business at breaking down football for the non fan. He is a bit dated though. I think that they should keep him, but if they don't, they need to get someone who breaks the game down as well and in the same layman terms Madden does.
