Brown and Out

Seattle PI's Clare Farnsworth reports that Chad Brown is headed for an ugly departure with the Seahawks, and it's a sure thing.

"It could happen as early as today. It might not happen until later in the week.", Says Farnsworth.

"I don't want to say the bridge is burnt," Brown said. "But, boy, I'd hate to walk on it now."

Even coach Mike Holmgren admits, "This is heading toward an ugly conclusion."

an update...not worth making a thread for...

check out under 'Seahawks needs' Calre Farnsworth...a GOOD source hinted that the Seahawks may grab a CB in the first round, DEPENDING ON WHICH DES ARE AVAILABLE...its obvious DE is most likely, but this definitely shows the Seahawks are thinking DE first and foremost

  2. Bummer. I really thought they would be able to work that out. Chad must really be feeling good if he thinks he can get better than 1Mil plus sack incentives. Sad to see him go...

  3. Ayedeepee, thanks.

J-SC: I was wondering that myself. He's either feeling really good, or that's contract-speak.

Either way, it's a sad day for Brown fans.

  4. Well CRAP! Now I have to eat crow for awhile. I hate being wrong, but then again I'm not surprised, I've been off on several of my predictions so this one doen't surprise me. I wonder if Koren really is next.

  5. I have beeen saying this is coming for a while now. Clyton has been reporting it, and like I said, he was getting his info from someone, people who work for espn don't just "make up news". It doesn't happen or they lose their reputations and maybe jobs.

  6. After thinking about it, there is no reason that Chad won't sign back after being released, really, who is gonna pay him better than the Seahawks? It's not like his status as a situational LB is going to change anywhere else, everybody knows he is 35 and has had injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signs with us after testing the market and seeing there isn't a better deal.

As far as Koren, assuming he keeps his nose clean I don't think they release him before camp, and then only if he just won't commit. What would be the point? To send the message that the FO won't keep problem players? They already sent that message a couple of times! And frankly, if he keeps his nose clean (c'mon Korens mom) and commits, why release him?

I think Clayton is basing the story on a leak that K-Rob missed mandatory/voluntary workouts, and the release part is speculation. He was at some celebrity golf tourney for charity in NC, but I would say he gets a pass on that one, I know they want attendance, but things come up, if a guy takes a weeks vacation they can't be too mad.

If we sign someone (Pathon?) I could see him gone, but not likely otherwise. With all the rumors, bad press, and real problems we can't trade him, and if the FO wanted to trade they wouldn't put out bad info on him. Just don't see it happening.

  7. you know Josh...we completely overshadowed that...

we all thought Brown could resign later, but left out the logic that noone else would sign him for more then us...

BUT since Brown seems to be offended I think he would go to Pittsburgh if they can get in or above Seattle's offer

  8. Honestly, if I were Chad, I would sign with the Pats for free, just to have a better than average shot at the ring. It's not that he needs the money, he just doesn't want to be insulted. But Pitt isn't a bad destination either ADP, very well could be. Hows the humidity up there today? I heard brutal.

  9. Blue - love the title! hate the story though. It's sad to see Brown leave, especially under these circumstances, but unfortunately, it's the price you pay for parity in the NFL.

He's no longer worth his salary, so he's gotta take the cut or leave. It seems unlikely that he'd sign back with Seattle though given his last quote in the article.

  10. Ghost I agree with everything you said. Well except that the reason Koren's still got a job is because he doesn't have an attitude problem, he has a dependency problem, two totally different things.

But I agree about Chad, I was really hoping he'd be allowed to retire a Hawk.

  11. And sorry Josh, but th ePats are done. So Chad better look elsewhere for that Automatic Ring.

    :D

  12. The problem with K-rob, as far as football goes, is not attitude OR dependency.

He has a declining PRODUCTION problem.

The other issues are personal, and not the organization's fault.
