Florida St.
6' 6" 325- 330 lbs.

Sporting News says........
NFL COMPARISON: Chad Clifton of the Packers

Strengths: At his best as a run blocker(something we lacked on the right side). Has the power to knock defenders back with his hand punch. Takes solid angles to his man, drives his legs and works to finish blocks. Is aggresive. Works on and off the field(another work-aholic, excellent).

Weaknesses: Is not a great athlete and doesn't run well. Can be forced back on his heels. Lacks ideal change of direction skills. Struggles to counter double moves and looks stiff against elite edge rushers.

Bottom line: Willis is a right tackle prospect with good size, strength and toughness. He lacks ideal athletic ability but has skills and needs time to develope. His potential makes him a good pick late on day two. (another reach)

Sportsline says.........
Positives: Has wide frame with solid overall muscle development, above average arm length, tick hips, bubble, thighs and calves....Possesses a wide chest, broad shoulders and a frame that can add more bulk(he'll get bigger?). ....While he does not have sustained speed, he is quick off the snap and shows good power to lock on and control. ....Uses his hands and reach to keep defenders of his body and shows the ability to create movement off the ball. ....Is quick to seal and is does a good job of getting to the second level to make contact. ....Shows above average awareness to locate and pick up stunts and blitzes. ....Show fluidity when sliding and getting to the cut-off point.

Negatives: Has a strong hand punch, but does not throw them often, relying more on placement to lock and sustain. ....Needs to add some lower body power, as he can lose some ground vs a strong bull rush, but he has the body control to recover and hold position for the pocket. ....Will give good effort on the field, but needs to show more aggression. ....Has had a series of problems with his left shoulder that could need further medical evaluation.

My take....An excellent prospect to compete for the RT spot. Big body(something I've always said we needed on the right side)

Ran a 5.15 40 ..... 405 lb bench press .... 651 lb squat .... 304 lb pwer clean .... 25.5 in vertical leap .... 7'11" long jump .... 5.06 shuttle .... 24/26 wonderlick score.

Combine: Bench pressed 225 27 times ..... 35 1/2" arm length .... 10 5/8" hands.

Grade-B

  2. Since I am not getting as much free time as I was. Any info and links to this Mr. Willis are very welcome, and actually encouraged, as I am still a novice at this computer stuff.

Me I'm hoping this guy turns out to be the next Walter Jones. So I'm taking a straight shot of koolaid and looking at the possitives...Big, smart, strong, a good worker off the field(will come to workouts).

    Has been healthy(recently)-
"Willis would extend his string to 35 career starts by lining up at right tackle in every contest during the '04 campaign."-from sportsline.com (I like our conditioning coach)
I'm thinking we're seeing what everyone wanted to see.....what Ruskell thinks of the team.

Seems to me he really likes the guys we have on the D-line(as do I)

And he see's the weakness we had in pass protection...in my mind Mike and Tim are saying it's about the o-line, as we've discussed here at length earlier. It's about protecting the QB, and making holes for the HB, the only consistant holes I saw last year were behind Walter and Hutch. Imagine a young version of Tobeck next to Hutch and Womack with a 6'6" 320 (by the time camp's over)Tackle next to him.

    Or Kyle ;)
