The Wizard of Az-Zahir?

From ESPN.com...

Detroit Lions: The team released receiver Az-Zahir Hakim and free safety Brock Marion, and signed defensive tackle Brandon Kennedy to a one-year deal Monday.

Hakim became expendable when the Lions drafted Mike Williams and signed Kevin Johnson last week.

Hakim signed as a free agent in Detroit before the 2002 season, but did not produce the way the Lions hoped he would after watching him excel for St. Louis. He had 31 receptions for 533 yards and three touchdowns, missing four games because of injury.

Hakim has 265 receptions for 3,555 yards and 26 TDs during his seven-year career.

Hell, if K-Rob and D-Jax don't want to practice in the off season, maybe we should bring in a another talented receiver to turn up the heat?

After all, isn't REALLY better to Receive??!!

  2. You know what they say, "if you can't beat them, sign them as free agents!"

  3. I have heard alot of comments on other sites about this topic, people are saying that. "we don't need another reciever so what's the point", "We already have too many recievers so why add another one", or "He'll just make it a more difficult job when it comes time to cut the roster down". All of these comments are silly!
They are entirely missing the point!

The point is that firstly, we don't have a real speedy reciever and Az is, we also don't have a good return guy, and Az could be.
Secondly, adding more recievers does not make the job of cutting players more difficult so much as it makes the overall pool of talent from which you are cutting better. A coach doesn't look at the field and say to himself, "damn there are too many good players out here, I just can't do this", he looks at the field and picks out the strengths and weaknesses of each player and judges them accordingly whether there are two or twenty to choose from. The more you have to choose from the better chances of getting the right combination of quality players in the recieving core. I think that Hakim would come cheap enough and could bring the speed that we are lacking in our recievers. BRING HIM ON I say.

  4. my problem with the 'we dont need another WR' cliche...is that we probably will end up losing one or two if we sign too many...obviously thats a cliche...BUT...signing bonuses would just add up to dead money...

and I must say this, because things are heating up against him...Ruskell would probably say something if D Jack wasnt showing up at camps if it werent for a good reason...KRob I wont defend, but DJack has been a good WR for us...the only problem is how he drops passes...by knocking them back in the air to be picked off...

DJack might not be as good as Torry Holt, but for awhile his stats were right on par, if not, then better this past season...he caught a lot of passes, and even played after his father died...I think him and SA are misunderstood...everyone says they arent team players, but a good example to use for defending their dedication---DJack played the day his father died, and SA played the day his FIRST child was born...

you guys may disagree with DJack and SA...but in my mind and opinion, I think they may be getting too much heat on them...

    KRob though...has issues...
