"If they don't want you to grab the helmet...

...then why did they put a handle on it??!!"

While this quote is not attributed to Jamie Sharper, there are a few choice snippets from the article on Seahawks.com officially announcing his signing.

"I'm coming to a team that's been in the playoffs, and I'm coming in to add to what they accomplished and take it to the next level," Sharper said Thursday.

I nice humble approach that acknowledges the caliber of team that's already assembled and shows he's willing to chip in wherever he can best help the team.

"I wanted to get back to a quality team that definitely has a chance to win a championship, and I think they have that in Seattle," said Sharper. "Coach Holmgren won it in Green Bay, Ray Rhodes has won it in San Francisco, and it's a great coaching staff. So that along with the quality of players they have on the team already, it was just a good fit."

A good reminder to everyone that, oh yea, Mike and Ray really can coach, and with the moves we've made in free agency, we are actually better than last year.

"I'm a guy that likes to hit and bring a lot of contact and get after the quarterback," says Sharper. "It's a war between me and the ball carrier, and I'm going to go out there and just try to take people's heads off. Coming from the AFC to the NFC I might have to learn some things about how their offense progresses. The AFC and the divisions I've played in has always been physical, and I know that Seattle's defense is physical, and they just a couple more guys to come out there and show it."

This makes me think that we've just signed Chad, Jr. I like the fact that he seems to take the same reckless abandonment approach to playing defense, and considers the ball carrier the enemy!

"I know that whatever position they need in Seattle I know I can fill it, because I've played inside and outside," said Sharper.

Again, he either got a Big-Gulp sized glass of Ruskell Kool-Ade at the interview, or this team first attitude is the very reason he's here! At the very least, this last quote should make Monkey happy that it may mean Niko's got the middle locked up!

  1. You're right alba, monkey is happy.
The most recent .com depth chart has Niko as the starter in the middle. I really am gulping this Ruskell Kool-Aid myself. SO far if I were to give an offseason grade, they'd be getting an A-. Just think back a few months to when alot of people were hand wringing, (myself included!) over the mess Whitless had left us in the FO and the seeming lack of direction. Now, and I say this with all sincerity, I believe the Ruskell has already established himself as the clear choice for executive of the year. He has been patient when the fans were screaming Harwell, and his patience was rewarded with Sharper. He has let go of players who we thought we needed to resign at all cost, like Lucas. But he instead gave us a virtual two for one by bringing in Herndon and Dyson fro less than the Panthers paid for Lucas. He let Okeafor walk and plugged the hole with Bryce a bigger stronger and younger version of Okeafor. I tell you this, I would hate to play poker with that guy, he'd leave me penniless.
