A few new names to ponder

Here are a few guys recently cut by teams that could be interesting.

Mike Wahle LG
Dexter Coakley LB
Joe Jurivicious WR
Pat Williams DT
Jonas Jennings RT
Kenoy Kennedy S
Samari Rolle CB

Of these guys, I am most interested in Pat Williams, a big run stuffing DT whose only reason for getting cut was the Bills salary cap troubles.

I also love Dexter Coakley who although he is small, is a fast hard hitting machine, who just doesn't fit into Parcells need for big linebackers.

Mike Wahls could upgrade Grays postion immediately.

Jonas Jennings is better than Terry at RT.

Unfortunately the two best players on this list aren't really guys we need, Samari Rolle and Kenoy Kennedy. Although the argument could be made that Pat Williams ranks up there with those two talent wise.

Anyone wanna get Viscious? Hey, at least the guy can catch.

  1. OK, based on the most recent info, here's what I would do. I would not resign any of our unrestricteds except Lukas and Tobeck. I would cut Chad Brown, then I would sign Pat Williams and Dexter Coakley and go after the best DE or LB we can get in the draft with our first two picks.
Williams and whoever we got to play DE would be a huge upgrade on the line. At linebacker, whether DD Lewis or White are ready, or we started a rookie along with Niko and Coakley, we would still be better off just by having players who actually PLAY. No more always injured LBers! We could do this financially I believe, if we just let everyone walk except for Lucas and Tobeck, the rest won't be missed anyway, and can be replaced through the draft. Also cutting Brown would give us more wiggle room.

  2. monkey, I don't like giving up on Chike just yet, and the other free agent I'm worried about is Bannister, don't want to let him go.

  3. WhenI saw Wahle was free, I thought of him as well, but wasn't sure of his interest of moving to the right side, and how much he'll be asking for is a big question mark.

But he's a better prospect than Middleton, who was relaeased from the Raiders and is damaged goods.

  4. Both are so replaceable, Chike isn't really that good in my opinion, I like him fine, don't get me wrong, I just see about five DE's coming through the draft who would all be better than Chike because they are bigger and stronger, and most are faster too. And Bannister is a special teams guru, granted, but he is little else. With all the problems holding onto the ball the recievers have had, you would think this guy could have earned his way to a starting spot if he were any good, but he also has dropped alot of passes, and has not caught on as a reciever at all. I'd let em both go and bring in better talent, they are both so easily replaced, through the draft or free agency. Bannister would be missed a little on special teams, but not enough to make it worth bringing him back IMHO.

  5. I really want Pat Williams!!! Gawd he would make a huge impact on our line. No more run stopping nightmares like the Cowboys game.

  6. Bluefoot,
I really don't think that right guard or left guard makes much of a difference it's the same position really. If anything right guard is a little easier, based on the competition normally faced there, but really it's the same dang thing. He would upgrade our line quite a bit.

  7. That's what I would hope.

What do you guys think of Chris Claiborne at the Vikings? He's a UFA that seems to be under the radar, and the Rams are reportedly pursuing him, too.

BTW: I'm glad Simmons isn't going to the Rams. I'd hate to seem him play against us with some actual motivation.

  8. Claiborn is no better or different than Simmons. He too is always hurt.

  10. You know, I forgot about Kevin Carter, he would also be a stud on our D line. I would take him in a heartbeat, moved inside last year, just proving how talented he really is, is a great two way lineman, meaning great against the run and pass rushing. NOw that I think aobut it, K.C. has just moved to the top of my list of guys I want the Seahawks to get.

  11. You know, the more I think about it, the more I agree with SHONUFF about Edgerton Hartwell. If we can sign Lucas or another CB, we should go after this guy HARD.

  12. Hartwell is #1 on my list, just above Kendrell Bell and Plaxico Burress

Hartwell would be great because hes a bit young, and had Ray Lewis with him...you KNOW some of that intensity and leadership rubbed off on him...im not comparing the two, but we could end up with a mini-Ray Lewis

  13. I agree on the DT comment, we're pretty set at that position. Moore, Woodard,Tubbs, and Bernard I really like that rotation.

We just need the pass rushers to rush the damn passes!

That's all we're missing is the pass rush, fix that and we go to the S.B. ! (whoops, a little manic there)

  14. Here's a (possibly) cheap WR: Kevin Johnson. Said Pasquarelli:

WR Kevin Johnson (Baltimore) -6yrs- Has bounced around a lot the last few years and voided his contract to become a free agent. Still has deceptive speed and some teams feel he has the best hands in the league.

  15. Kevin Johnson's problems have never been his abilities as a reciever, they have been his practice and work ethic and his unwillingness to block, he is a lousy blocker but a good reciever.
