This quote is from the Seattle P-I believe it or not. "Ed is going to get something signed," Harold Lewis (his agent) said. "I'm guessing that within 48 hours, he's done. But he wanted to get the Seattle trip in. He really wanted to see what it was."
While this doesn't really indicate any serious desire to play here, it at least does indicate an interest. Also, I feel a little better knowing that this won't be something that hangs around endlessly, apparently we will know where he will sign very soon.

Seattle was also close to reaching agreement today with cornerback Kelly Herndon, a restricted free agent from the Denver Broncos.

From Ravens Insider:
"Linebacker Ed Hartwell was "very, very impressed" with the Seattle Seahawks, particularly defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes, his agent Harold Lewis said. Lewis said he hopes this is Hartwell's final visit. ...
I realize Hartwell isn't here yet, but the comment shows that guys want to play for Rhodes, and it's not for his social skills!(Especially his communications skills) :)
Blue, those two concepts are closely linked, IMO. It seems that there is an abundance of pass rush talent available this year. Combine that with the relative lack of LB's (which always seems to be the case) and I think it would be wise for the Hawks to position themselves so that they are not forced to take a LB. It is quite likely that a DE will be the BPA when the Hawks pick (or at least close enough to the BPA to justify drafting and not calling it a "need pick").
The deadline that we're worried about will have nothing to do with Hartwell, it's the deadline for talking to Franchised players about long term contracts. We can offer contracts to free agents anytime we'd like.
well I heard a rumor that Blue was starting a rumor thread...glad i didnt bet against that...
ReplyDeleteive heard the same sh-tuff that you guys have heard...

On a great for teams in the NFC West note, Orlando Pace is visiting the Texans this week.

And I HAVE to say it....Told ya so about Rhodes bringing in guys.

ReplyDeleteI agree people want to play for Rhodes. Hartwell will sign with the Hawks book it.
ReplyDeleteThe rams are very close to signing LT Orlando Pace to a long term deal.
ReplyDeleteBrad Johnson agreed to terms with the Vikings, looks like we're still looking for a backup (although I think Seneca would do just fine.)
ReplyDeleteTwo updates:
ReplyDeleteThe Hawks are supposed to be signing an offer sheet to Kelly Herndon (RFA CB from Den)
The Hawks are interested in Jay Foreman (UFA LB from Hou)
Both could be good additions. This is completely changing our draft strategy though.
Nice~!
ReplyDeleteI still the wee need a pass rusher, though. That part of the draft strategy is #1 on my book.
Buy that kind of stuff makes BPA drafting a lot easier.

ReplyDeleteNot that it would ever hurt to have another, but isn't Fisher a pretty good pass rusher?
ReplyDeleteHe's just about as good as Okeafor, but we needed help when Oke was here.

ReplyDeleteEdge just signed his tender with the Colts.
